Panos Panay who is the Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Microsoft announced that he has resigned. Panay, who is quite synonymous with Surface and Windows Phone products, left the company he joined since 2004.
His duties are now taken over by Yusuf Mehdi who will know the Windows and Surface business. Panay's announcement comes as a surprise because there are only a few days left before Microsoft will launch their new Surface product. It is not known if his resignation has anything to do with the company's new direction which is now paying attention to artificial intelligence (AI) in all its products.
According to Bloomerg's report, Panay is moving to Amazon and will lead the Alexa and Echo businesses. Previously, Dave Limp, who heads Amazon's hardware production division, announced that he will step down by the end of 2023.
