The list of new emojis for 2023 has been released by the Unicode Consortium this week. Under Unicode Consortium Emoji 15.1, a total of 118 new emojis will be introduced, including a fiery phoenix, mushrooms, lemon slices, broken iron chains and some new variations of wheelchair users.
This number of 118 includes skin color variations with the total number of new emojis actually being only 22. All Emoji 15.1 will be introduced on various operating systems by the end of 2023. With the introduction of Emoji 15.1 there are now 3,782 emojis that can be used on various operating systems since Unicode introduced them in 2010.
