When the Galaxy Watch6 was launched, we reported that this watch series was the first in the world to run Wear OS 4. Most recently, the Galaxy Watch5 started receiving this update. Google's own smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, is still running Wear OS 3.x.
Not many major changes are offered. Among the new features are a new pulse scan feature, a more stable sleep mode and faster performance with smoother animation transitions. The two-year-old Galaxy Watch4 series is also expected to receive the same update soon.
If you want to use a Wear OS smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch is a good choice. Fossil watches, TicWatch and other brands already running Wear OS 3 are also still taking a long time to receive security patch updates, let alone updates to the new generation of Wear OS.
It seems that Samsung is getting better at distributing software updates for their products. Not only is it one of the device manufacturers that offers up to five years of updates for smartphones but also the first to use a new operating system.
