Spotify to this day is still the most popular music streaming platform in the world even though in terms of offering they are still behind Apple. The promised hi-res music feature still has no launch date.
Most recently, Spotify is seen to be testing limiting access to song lyrics for Spotify Premium customers only. Previously this feature was available to all users regardless of Premium subscription status. This rather strange test was found by a user on Reddit.
This will probably cause criticism for Spotify as they were among the first to become famous with lyrics due to their collaboration with Musicmatch. This feature is also said to be only in the testing stage to see which appropriate markets can accept these locked lyrics. What are your comments on this? Should the lyrics even have to be paid to be accessed?
