5G Coverage Now Reaches 70.2% of Populated Areas In Malaysia

 


The Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil has now shared that the 5G network coverage rate has now reached 70.2% of populated areas in Malaysia. This was achieved with the construction of 5,873 5G sites as of September 30, 2023.


However, the number of subscriptions is still low, which is only around 7.4%, or 2.49 million recorded for now.



Today, six telecommunications companies are ready to offer their respective 5G plans to customers, including Maxis, CelcomDigi, U Mobile, TM Unifi Mobile, YTL Communication and Yoodo.


Also shared was Rahmah's 5G Package which was introduced on 31 August 2023 and currently has around 50,999 subscribers - and is expected to continue to increase in the coming months. Under the package, in addition to offering plans, the government also provides a subsidy of RM120 for upgrading 5G devices.
