Apple today held a special event focusing on the Mac, and the main focus during the launch was a series of new processing chips. A total of three new chips were announced, namely Apple M3, Apple M3 Pro and Apple M3 Max.
These three chips come with a 3-nanometer-based construction, bringing more efficient energy use and processing power than ever before.
It's quite a surprise that the M3 Pro and M3 Max series were also introduced this time – considering that the M2 Pro and M2 Max series were also introduced this year as well.
The Apple M3 comes with an 8-core chip combined with a 10-core GPU, and 24GB of memory. While the Apple M3 Pro comes with a 12-core chip, an 18-core GPU, and up to 36GB of memory.
The most powerful of the three is the M3 Max. It comes with a 16-core CPU chip, 40-core GPU and up to 128GB of memory. Apple M3 Max is said to offer more than 40 times more processing power than the previous M1.
Apple is also focusing on updating GPU support through this processing chip – including support such as ray-tracing, Dynamic GPU Caching, in addition to better Neural Engine support with this processing chip.
Among the new products that come with this built-in chip are Apple MacBook Pro and Apple iMac.
