With fierce competition in the video streaming arena, each platform is looking for its own exclusive content. Recently, it was reported that Apple is considering bidding for the global broadcast rights for the Formula 1 race.
It is estimated that the value of the bid may reach $2 billion a year. There are also a number of things that need to be looked into before Apple receives global exclusive rights to the broadcast – as there are still several countries that hold the broadcast rights for several years.
Apple previously had success with the MLS Season Pass offering. If Apple succeeds in obtaining the rights to broadcast Formula 1, it is expected to further strengthen Apple's position in offering exclusive live broadcasts through their platform.
