ASUS Hyper M.2 Gen5 x16 Lets You Connect Four SSDs For 64GB/s Speeds

ASUS Hyper M.2 is an expansion card to allow users to connect multiple SSD storage on a single component to get a large amount of storage and faster.

Recently, the company has introduced the ASUS Hyper M.2 Gen5 x16, the latest model in this series that can be used together with four PCIe Gen5 SSDs that have a data reading speed of 16GB/s which is technically not yet available on the market at the moment .

The four PCIe Gen5 SSDs can be installed on this expansion card and configured in RAID0 mode to combine all of the storage as one large storage, and also to get data reading speeds as fast as 512Gb/s or 64GB/s.

In the meantime, this expansion card also supports various M.2 SSD sizes, including 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110, and requires only one 6-pin PCIe power plug to power it, and drains 14W of electricity. Apart from RAID0, it also supports several other RAID configurations.

It also comes with a cooling fan that can be turned on or off using a switch on the back of the card.

In terms of support, this expansion card can be used by any Intel and AMD platform that has PCIe Gen5 support without a problem, but for Intel, their Z790 platform is seen to be able to support only two SSD storage installed as a maximum because it only has 20 PCIe lanes . To take advantage of the use of this card, you will need to use a HEDT Intel W790 motherboard to maximize the use of 4 SSDs.

AMD X670 and B650 motherboards do not have this problem as both X670 and B650 motherboards have 44 and 36 PCIe 5.0 lanes that can be utilized.

ASUS in the United States has confirmed that this product is sold at a price of $79 (~RM375) in the market. For now it is not known whether ASUS Malaysia will bring in this product for the local market.
