BNM : On Average, Malaysians Perform 291 e-Payment Transactions in 2022

 


With the development of technology and digital, we are also now seeing a shift to the use of electronic payments for various transactions - through implementations such as online banking, digital wallets, DuitNow QR and so on.


Touching on this, Bank Negara Malaysia has now shared that in 2022, a total of 9.5 billion electronic payment transactions have been recorded - showing an increase compared to 7.2 billion electronic transactions in 2021.


In addition, BNM also stated that on average, every Malaysian will make 291 electronic payment transactions in 2022 - compared to 222 average electronic payment transactions in 2021.


For 2023, that figure is expected to continue to rise – not least with more people using DuitNow QR support.


BNM also stated that registrations for receiving payments via QR codes have increased, and recorded more than 7 million registrations in Malaysia.
