Last week we had the opportunity to attend the Snapdragon Summit event that took place in Hawaii. At the event Qualcomm officially shared the benchmark scores recorded by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with media representatives.
So the common question is how capable this chip is when compared to Apple A17 Pro, Apple 16 Bionic, Dimensity 9200+ and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. All the scores displayed in this article are using the devices we have with the latest version of the operating system.
The disclaimer here is that there are no hands-on benchmark test sessions on Qualcomm prototype devices. All scores are provided to us by Qualcomm representatives. This is in contrast to the previous Snapdragon Summit where media were allowed to do their own benchmark tests on prototype devices provided.
For those wondering, above is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 prototype device we got to see and hold. It looks like a generic device with a tri-camera whose sensor size is not revealed. The metal frame is matched with a glass back panel.
Score
Here are the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 benchmark scores compared to the A17 Pro (iPhone 15 Pro Max), A16 Bionic (iPhone 14 Pro Max), Dimensity 9200+ (Xiaomi 13T Pro) and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5) .

Conclusion
In the Geekbench 6 test, the advantage is still seen on the A17 Pro and A16 Pro chips. However, in the multi-core test, the 8 Gen 3 scored higher than the A16 Bionic and the 8 Gen 2. But in the other tests we ran, the 8 Gen scored the highest. Among the five chips we tested, the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ scored the lowest. This makes us look forward to the launch of the Dimensity 9300 on November 6th which is a real competitor to the 8 Gen 3 and the A17 Pro.
As we explained in the previous 8 Gen 3 launch report, this chip focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) performance and not just CPU and GPU performance. We will publish another article about the AI demo we played at the Snapdragon Summit soon because there are many amazing things involving the AI on this chip.
Again it should be emphasized that these published Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scores are all provided by Qualcomm. We hope to test this chip again when the Xiaomi 14 goes on sale in Malaysia in the near future.
