The Starlink internet system is not offered in Israel despite reports that the country wants to provide it to residents as an emergency communication system. Last weekend, Elon Musk in response to the American congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said he would support the use of the Starlink terminal in Gaza for internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza.
The retaliatory tweets came after Israel shut down Gaza's internet system before it was stormed by ground forces for the next phase of the nearly month-long conflict. Musk's announcement received a negative reaction from the Israeli government with Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi saying they would oppose it because they claimed Starlink would be used by Hamas for terrorist purposes.
At the time the article was written, access to the internet in Gaza had been restored in certain areas. However, access to humanitarian aid to Gazans is still blocked even though electricity, water and food have been blocked by Israel for more than a week.
