Vivo has announced a new Android-based launcher update for their smartphones through the introduction of FuntouchOS 14. Through it, it is seen to focus more deeply on several aspects that are felt to be important including multitasking capabilities, smoothness and privacy. This aims to ensure that the user experience can be maximized for a better overall experience.
FuntouchOS 14 introduces the Smooth Envision feature which can generally help improve the overall system on the device. It is said to be able to reduce ongoing processes and optimize RAM usage better. This is also helped by the RAM Saver feature that can free up to 600MB of RAM for devices with 8GB or more, making multi-tasking easier. Then the App Retainer feature will ensure that applications in the background that are not closed manually are always restored to the last interface.
There is also a Motion Blur feature that uses a smart algorithm for a smoother visual transition experience especially when opening or closing apps on the home screen. Through it it is said to be able to increase smoothness up to 18.7% better even with a refresh rate of 60Hz. The multi-tasking experience is also enhanced with an upgraded small window feature. It supports up to 12 small windows in the background, and the switching process is also as easy as a tap at the tip of the finger.
The experience is improved with enhanced side-swipe controls that are especially useful for scenarios that require users to focus on more than one application at a time. For example, like watching a video while chatting with friends, surfing the web while waiting for e-hailing or playing games while replying to messages.
Meanwhile FuntouchOS14 also offers more options for personal settings. This includes the ability to customize the style of the home screen clock with a choice of three layouts and eight different fonts. Also introduced is a new monochrome theme called MY Color Palette with a variety of simple color finishes to choose from. In addition, FuntouchOS14 is also equipped with better video editing features with the ability to adjust video settings up to 4K/60FPS resolution with 25 filters provided together.
Other changes included include an update to the album feature which now allows users to adjust various things including video playback speed. In addition there is also a Smart Mirroring feature for sharing without revealing personal information and the photo application is now also protected with additional password verification.
The update will be available for download from mid-October on vivo X90 Pro and iQOO 11 devices.
