Because America is suing Google for alleged monopolistic business, some new info came out during the trial. In the case being discussed, Google shared that it has paid a total of $26.3 billion (~RM126 billion) to Apple, Firefox, Samsung, as well as various manufacturers of devices and web browsers in the market so that Google Search is made the main search engine - in 2021.
Of this amount, $18 billion is estimated to be paid to Apple. Google has also reportedly blocked Samsung from using its own search engine, in an effort to keep Google Search as the main search engine. Although the amount paid to be a major search engine is seen as relatively high, the revenue generated by Google's advertising division is many times higher, reaching $165 billion last year. In an effort to continue to dominate this market, Google is seen to be willing to spend big.
In European Union countries, Google is asked to allow the main search engine to be chosen by Android device owners when the device is set up to prevent Google Search from continuing to monopolize the market.
