Honda Introduces E-Clutch That Helps Change Gear On Manual Motorcycles

Electric motorcycles do not have clutches. Instead press the throttle to control the speed of the motorcycle. Because only one hand is used without any action of changing gears with the foot, many riders say that the experience of riding an electric motorcycle is too passive to the point of not being fun. Honda now offers an E-Clutch electronic clutch that gives the rider the option to control the clutch and gears manually or fully automatically.

This E-Clutch will automatically control the clutch without losing power when the rider changes gears using the foot controls. The clutch pedal on the left side of the handle is still attached to the motor but does not need to be pressed when changing gears. Riders can still use it if they want to control the bike completely manually.

With the E-Clutch, Honda wants to still offer a classic motorcycle riding experience but with clutch support that can take over the task of changing gears only when needed. E-Clutch will be offered on motorcycles from the Fun type in the near future.
