Last month, HP launched their first laptop with a foldable screen, the HP Specter Fold. Today at the SXSW Sydney event, HP showed off this laptop and also announced the selling price for the Asian market. Like other HP products, it will also be sold in Malaysia officially and makes the HP Specter Fold one of the first laptops with a foldable screen to be offered for the local market.
This HP Specter Fold uses a 17-inch OLED screen with a 2.5K resolution, supports 500-nits HDR brightness, receives IMAX Enhanced recognition and a 60Hz refresh rate. For the processing chip it uses Intel Core i7-1250U matched with 16GB LPDDR5-5200 MHz memory and 1TB SSD PCIe Gen4 NVMe TLC M.2 internal storage.
In laptop mode, the Specter Fold has a 12.3″ or 14″ inch screen while the AIO tablet and desktop mode is on a 17″ screen. The HP Specter Fold also comes with a keyboard that can be charged wirelessly on the screen, or by magnetic charging. The screen can also be used with the HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 Tilt Pen stylus for taking notes or sketching.
HP Specter Fold runs the Windows 11 Home operating system, and comes equipped with WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, HP True Vision 5MP web camera with IR, quad-speaker Bang & Olufsen with DTS:X Ultra and HP Audio Boost. The battery is a 6-cell 94.3Wh type and because it uses Intel Evo technology it has a durability of 12 hours 30 minutes, and supports 100W USB-C PD charging.
For I/O, the HP Specter Fold comes with 2x USB-C Thunderbolt 4. The laptop weighs 1.35 kg and 1.62 kg with the keyboard. A security and privacy system is available that allows the microphone and webcam to be turned off instead of using a plastic cover.
In Malaysia, the HP Specter Fold will be sold starting November 20 at a price of RM23,999. It only comes in Slate Blue color only. Each purchase also comes with an HP Envy USB-C Hub, a month's subscription to McAfee LiveSafe, Xbox Game Pass and Microsoft 365.
