John Chen, who has led BlackBerry as CEO since 2013, has now announced that he will leave the position on November 4, 2023. Under him, John Chen has tried to maintain the operation of the once popular BlackBerry company, but suffered a decline since the arrival of the iPhone and Android phones.
Under John Chen, BlackBerry's smartphone business tried its luck with the use of the Android operating system, but it ended around 2016. After that, BlackBerry focused on enterprise offerings as well as security offerings, as well as connected devices. BlackBerry is also well known for its QNX offering in the automotive arena.
John Chen said the company is now stable, and will leave the BlackBerry company. He will be replaced by Richard Lynch as interim CEO after him.
