Leica Sofort was first launched in 2016 to join the instant camera arena to compete with Instax or Polaroid. Now after seven years, Lecica Sofort 2 is launched as a successor.
The Sofort 2 is a hybrid instant camera with a built-in screen and can still print photos. The sensor used is CMOS 1/5″ Zoll, has an RGB color filter, can produce images with a resolution of 2560 x 1920 (4.9 Megapixel) and uses a Leica Summar 1:2/2.4mm lens.
The lens aperture on the Sofort 2 can also be changed from f2 to f16. Leica also offers 10 film filters and 10 lens filters for more creative photo results such as vintage style. The camera comes with a 3-inch TFT screen, supports Bluetooth 4.3 connectivity and USB-C charging with a battery that lasts up to 3 hours. Sofort 2 can also be a printer of photos taken with other Leica cameras using the FOTOS application.
The Leica Sofort 2 is the cheapest Leica camera on the market right now. It comes with a choice of red, black or white at a price of $389 which is around RM1,836. For now, sales in Malaysia are still unknown.
