Meta is now reportedly proposing to authorities in Europe to impose monthly access charges if users do not consent to advertising on their social platforms.
According to the initial proposal, Meta wants to charge €10 per month (~RM49.45) for desktop subscriptions for Facebook or Instagram. For payments via mobile devices, Meta is expected to increase subscription prices slightly to cover the cost of taxes imposed by Apple and Google.
Meta was quoted as saying they believe in a free service powered by advertising, but are now looking at offering other options due to legal factors.
Meta is expected to offer this plan specifically for European users only, due to legislation in the European Union.
