Many are looking forward to a new chip from Qualcomm after they took over Nuvia a few years ago. Nuvia is a company involved in the design of Apple Silicon, so its acquisition gives hope that chips comparable to Apple Silicon will be produced by Qualcomm. Today the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip was leaked via the Windows Report site a few days before the Snapdragon Summit event.
According to the report, the Snapdragon X Elite is a 4nm chip equipped with 12 new Orycon CPU cores and paired with an Adreno GPU capable of 4.2 Teraflops. This according to the leaked graphics offers up to two times the CPU and GPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3. The focus is on AI capabilities directly on the device with an NPU with a power of 45 TOPS which is up to 4.5 times faster in AI processing than competitors.
In addition, the Snapdragon X Elite also supports 5G and WiFi networks in-built. In addition to that, high performance is still able to be offered but the consumption is only 1/3 of the power compared to competitor chips. Clearly with the Snapdragon X Elite, Qualcomm wants to offer a chip like the Apple M2. More information about the chip will surely be known at the Snapdragon Summit event just a few days away.
