SpaceX Wants To Launch 144 Rockets Into Space By 2024 To Upgrade Starlink Network

SpaceX, the aviation and space exploration company owned by Elon Musk has recently announced their plan to increase the frequency of launching their rockets into space, starting with a total of 100 launches by the end of this year.

Then, throughout 2024 SpaceX wants to launch around 144 rockets into space, or 12 rocket launches per month specifically to update the Starlink system with new satellites to accelerate the process of upgrading their satellite to cellular technology.

In the middle of this year, Starlink and T-Mobile have signed an agreement that allows T-Mobile customers to connect their devices to the second generation Starlink satellite network which, in theory, will allow customers to get a connection to some cellular services such as SMS, MMS and some select messaging apps.

So far, Starlink confirmed that mobile data support and VoIP calls are still not supported, but future upgrades will enable their satellites to support such high data transmission.

T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said that this collaboration is like having a telecommunications substation in space. The customers of the telecommunications company will be able to go to the interior or the ocean, and still be able to connect to the network without problems.

As for Starlink, the company is expected to only introduce their voice and data plans until 2025, where they will need to launch much larger satellites than what they already have and will launch later.
