Spotify announced that Premium subscribers can access up to 150,000 audiobooks in their catalog. This is seen as another way to attract subscribers to the paid service which has a 100 million song catalog and 5 million podcast episodes.
Audiobooks from publishers Hachette, HarperCollins Publishers, Macmillan, Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, and RB Media, Bolinda, Dreamscape, and Pushkin are among the offerings. Customers just need to look for the "included in Premium" label to hear it.
In the early warning Premium customers can access up to 15 hours of audio books per month. However, it is also limited to customers in Australia and the UK only before coming to America at the end of the year.
With this announcement, Spotify becomes the only platform to offer local streaming of music, podcasts and audiobooks in one app.
