The Government Will Scrutinize Indonesia's Fairness Of Curbing TikTok Shop Before Taking Any Steps In Malaysia

Since this week, Indonesia has banned the integration of e-commerce on social media - thus making TikTok Shop no longer able to operate in the country. In parallel, various questions arise as to whether other countries, including Malaysia, will take the same steps or otherwise.

Speaking about it, Fahmi Fadzil, the Minister of Communications and Digital stated that the government will examine the basis taken by Indonesia in curbing the TikTok Shop - before anything is drafted that is appropriate in Malaysia.

It was also shared that a number of parties have complained to the ministry, especially involving extreme price competition on the TikTok Shop platform.

In Indonesia, TikTok Shop is banned due to several things, including involving price competition that affects the local economy, while at the same time involving the personal data of users who shop on the platform.

On the same sharing, the minister also expressed his dissatisfaction with the TikTok side which is very sluggish - at the same time leading to the spread of fake news and so on.
