Following on from Indonesia's order banning buying and selling on social media platforms, TikTok has now announced that they will stop transactions on their platform in Indonesia effective Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
TikTok stated that they will comply with the law, and will no longer support TikTok Shop e-commerce transactions in Indonesia.
Previously, Indonesia announced a ban in an effort to protect local sellers in Indonesia, including other buying and selling services in the country. In addition, Indonesia also stated that "killer" price offers through social media platforms have an impact on small and medium enterprises.
For now, it is not known whether TikTok will offer a separate application TikTok Shop in Indonesia or vice versa.
