X has introduced Community Notes that add context notes to messages sent in the platform to solve the problem of spreading false information. Most recently, Elon Musk announced that X bugs that have been fixed by Community Notes are not eligible to receive income. He also stated that users should not abuse this feature if anyone intends to prevent content creators from receiving income.
With this update, X can be a platform that only has accurate information and doesn't pay content creators who try to cause a stir. X Premium customers can only generate income if they have five million impressions within three months and have at least 500 followers.
But as can be seen since the scheme started, sensational, outrage-generating and inaccurate content started to flood the platform making the dissemination of authentic information increasingly difficult. Since the start of the Israeli-Gaza conflict three weeks ago, many X Premium subscribers from both sides have been spreading images of death and destruction simply to increase viewership in order to generate a bit of income.
