X Require New Users in Two Countries to Pay $1 a Year Before Sharing

X, formerly known as Twitter, is now testing a program called "Not-A-Bot" in two countries, where new users of the platform in New Zealand and the Philippines will be charged $1 a year to allow them to do any sharing.

X said this step is in an effort to overcome bot and spam problems on the platform. If not paying, users can only read the sharing on the platform, and cannot do their own sharing, nor respond to any sharing.

For now, this program is only for new users, while existing users can use the service as usual without having to pay.
