Xiaomi has already officially introduced their new operating system that will power various devices, called HyperOS. For information, this operating system is not only for smartphones, but will power various devices produced by Xiaomi, including smart watches, televisions and other connected devices.
Xiaomi stated that HyperOS has been in development since last 2017 and aims to unify all Xiaomi device ecosystems under one system. This simultaneously enables powerful performance offerings, as well as ensuring a consistent interface and experience across multiple devices.
Xiaomi says HyperOS uses a Linux-based core via AOSP, and integrates it with Xiaomi's own developed system, named Vela. For information, the Vela platform is developed based on NuttX. It was developed with the ability to support more than 200 processing chip platforms, more than 20 file system standards, and can run on devices with memory as low as 64KB up to 24GB RAM.
Sharing about the size of its file system on the smartphone, Xiaomi stated that HyperOS brings a size of around 8.75GB only – much better and lighter than various other competitors in the market.
With this move too, Xiaomi can offer a better ecosystem experience. This includes the ability to easily switch cameras between devices during a teleconference, transfer content from one device to another, or access other connected devices from one device at any time.
Xiaomi HyperOS is also expected to power Xiaomi cars in the future.
Along with the introduction of this operating system, it comes built with Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi Watch S3 and also Xiaomi TV S Pro 85" mini LED. Xiaomi said it will be offered to global users starting in 2024.
