Amazon Offers Palm Scanning Technology For Security Door Systems

Three years ago Amazon introduced the Amazon One palm scan system for checkout at their Whole Foods stores. With biometric scanning, cashless payments are made quickly by customers. Amazon is now starting to offer this scanning system to any interested company under its Amazon One Enterprise offering.

Among the implementations outside the payment system in stores are for security doors in the workplace, accessing personal records and also in elevators instead of physical access cards hung around the neck. The use of Amazon One Enterprise by the human resources department for example can prevent unauthorized people from accessing confidential information of employees for example.

According to Amazon, among the companies that will use this technology are IHG Hotels and Resorts and Kone. Amazon also said that Amazon One Enterprises' accuracy level of scanning blood vessels on the hand is up to 99.9999% safer than scanning two individual irises.
