Apple Maps has a feature to view 360-degree panoramic images, while providing an experience similar to Google Street View, called Look Around. After being limited in several countries, Apple has now announced that it will start recording in Malaysia for the feature starting tomorrow, November 10, 2023.
According to the schedule displayed by Apple, they will start recording starting in Selangor, and expand to other states in stages. The entire recording in Malaysia is expected to end on 25 July 2024, ending in Sarawak.
The results of this recording will be collected to be used on the Look Around feature which is expected to be introduced to local users with the support of the Malaysian map after everything is collected later.
Apple says it will collect this mapping data in a number of ways, including using vehicles moving on the road to record the data.
With this partnership, let's all look forward to Apple Maps vehicles hovering on Malaysian roads, alongside various Apple representatives who will collect data to improve the Apple Maps mapping system.
