OpenAI confirmed that the ChatGPT service and its associated API are currently down, believed to be due to a DDoS attack. The service has been interrupted for the past nine hours. The recovery process is still underway but has not been fully restored at the time of this writing.
We have no problem accessing ChatGPT through the official site and Bing Chat at this time but understand that it is not accessible in some countries. This is the first time that OpenAI has confirmed that their service was the victim of a DDoS attack.
With ChatGPT now being among the applications used by more than 100 million users every week, today's attack will surely reduce the productivity of those who depend on it.
