Earlier this month, Google discontinued Chrome support for Android 7.0/7.1 Nougat devices. This is because this operating system is seven years old and no longer receives security updates for the protection of users. Most recently, the Google Calendar application has also stopped supporting these devices.
Unlike Chrome which can still be used by users even if it no longer receives new version updates, Google Calendar issues a notification to users that they should update their device to a new version of the operating system. This means users will need to switch to a new device running at least Android 8.0 Oreo or use another calendar app.
