Grab Will Introduce Fare Bidding Feature – Allowing Passengers And Drivers To Agree On Fare Prices To A Destination

Grab has now started training related to "Fare Bidding" through the Grab Academy, as well as showing that it will introduce a new feature that allows users to bid fares to a certain destination.

With this step, a passenger will make a payment offer to a destination, and allow the driver to accept it or counter the offer with another price within about 15 seconds – either at a higher or lower price. Next, if both parties agree, they will be connected to allow the trip to be planned and continued.

This new feature will be offered in addition to existing features like JustGrab and GrabCar. Grab is seen to be testing this feature on a limited basis in several cities in Malaysia. For now, it is not known when this feature will be widely introduced.

For information, in Malaysia the inDrive service offers more or less the same feature – requiring the driver and passenger to agree on the price of the offer before choosing transportation to the destination.
