Huawei Moves Their Smart Car Division To A New Company

After being subjected to various technology restrictions by the United States, Huawei began tinkering with the development of smart electric cars in collaboration with Changan Auto and Seres. Some models have already been produced with limited sales in China only. But last weekend, Huawei transferred its smart car division to a new company set up with Changan Auto.

The new company will not produce smart electric cars itself but will develop, produce and sell smart systems and hardware for use in the automotive industry. Huawei and Changan Auto aim for this new company to become a leader in smart automotive technology in China.

China is currently the second largest market for electric vehicles (EVs) after the United States. Some local companies such as BYD now hold the market in China and have expanded their vehicle offerings internationally at more affordable prices.
