Maybank through an update on the official website stated that the MAE mobile banking application now supports QR transactions DuitNow QR transactions in China. The addition of this support also complements the three existing Southeast Asian countries namely Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. At the same time increasing the convenience of financial transactions among users.
Its usage is the same as before where users traveling to China can make QR payments directly to merchants with the Chinese Renminbi currency exchange rate. The same goes for merchants in Malaysia who can accept QR payments from Chinese tourists through the Alipay platform.
The daily transaction limit is maintained up to RM1,000, or equivalent to RM1000 in foreign currency. However, users can still change this limit through the application settings. Then any payment that exceeds RM250 requires confirmation.
