Mozilla : Use of Yahoo Search Engine to Replace Google Causes User Experience to Decline

Over the past few weeks, the trial process involving Google has been going on – involving whether they monopolize the market through search engines or otherwise. In parallel, various parties also gave their testimony.

One of them is Mozilla. As many are aware, Mozilla has an agreement with Google before - whereby Mozilla will include the Google search engine as the main search engine in the Firefox web browser. In return, Google will pay a sum of money to Mozilla.

However, in 2014, Mozilla was approached by Yahoo with a higher payment offer - making Mozilla switch from Google to Yahoo. Sharing about it, Mozilla sees the matter as a "failure".

Despite receiving higher fees, the use of the search engine Yahoo! makes the experience of using Firefox degraded. This also led to a number of users who started to leave the web browser.

Mozilla then switched back to Google in 2017.

But, today, Mozilla is seen to be facing challenges in the mobile arena, given that iPhone users are offered with Safari built-in, while Android device users are provided with Google Chrome built-in.
