Nokia announced today that it has taken legal action against Amazon and HP for infringement of Nokia's patents, involving video-related technology.
This includes technology involving streaming services, as well as streaming devices. Nokia claims that Amazon through its streaming devices and Amazon Prime Video are already infringing on a number of patents owned by Nokia. In addition, HP is also using Nokia's patented technology without permission.
Nokia says it has been trying to talk to Amazon and HP for several years, but now it sees legal action as the last resort for the two companies to respond.
Nokia has been developing video technology since the 1990s, including video compression technology to facilitate high-definition video streaming. Nokia also stated that they also created technology that allows content to be optimized when viewed vertically or horizontally on the device, in addition to the ability to scroll videos forward.
Nokia also emphasized that they have more than 30 years of research and innovation experience, and hope that various companies will use the innovations developed by them.
