Tablet And Chromebook Production Continues To Decline In Q3 2023


 Tablet market activity recorded a total of 33.2 million shipments in the third quarter of 2023, a decrease of 14.2% compared to that recorded in the same quarter last year, according to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC). At the same time, Chromebook market activity also recorded a decrease of 20.8% with a total shipment of 3.5 million units, but has the potential to remain consistent due to increased demand for products in the education segment.



Commenting on the report Apple, Samsung and Lenovo are the top three competitors in the tablet market. Despite a 15.1% year-over-year decline, Apple is still the leader in the segment with shipments of 12.5 million units. Then it was followed by Samsung with the shipment of 6 million units in Q3 2023 and ranked second overall. Lenovo and Huawei are in third and fourth position with shipments of 2.6 million and 2.3 million units respectively.



Meanwhile, the Chromebook market is led by Acer with the largest share of 28.3% of the market followed by HP (19%), Dell (19%), Lenovo (18.2%) and Asus (6.4%). IDC also predicts that the Chromebook market has the potential to increase, in addition to the introduction of the new category Chromebook Plus before which is not only powered by high processing power, but also powered by artificial intelligence.
