Instagram previously allowed users to share Stories with close friends through Close Friends, where the sharing done can only be seen by selected followers. Selected followers will see a green coil on Stories as an indication.
Last May, Meta began testing a feature that allows sharing photos and videos on a timeline to close friends. Last night, Mark Zuckerberg shared in the Meta Channel on Instagram that this feature has been rolled out to the public. Interestingly, Reels can also be shared with close friends and is no longer limited to general sharing.
In my tests, this feature has been activated continuously without updating the app. Before sharing photos, videos or Reels, the application will ask the user to select the audience (Audience) and in it there are two options either Everyone or Close Friends. Choosing Best Friends also allows users to choose followers just like Stories before.
