This morning's cabinet reshuffle brought major changes to the Ministry of Digital Communications, which is now split into two, the Ministry of Digital and the Ministry of Communications. Fahmi Fadzil now holds the new position of Minister of Communications while Gobind Singh is now back in the cabinet as Digital Minister.
Teo Nie Ching, on the other hand, remains under Fahmi as Deputy Minister of Communications. The field of work and the full division of the two newly established ministries has not yet been clarified at this time. It is highly likely that the Digital Ministry will focus more on governance involving telecommunications companies and related policies. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communications will be more towards broadcasting.
