iPhone With Under-Screen Camera May Come 2026

Ever since the large Face ID notch was introduced on the iPhone X five years ago, users complained that it was too large to block the content they wanted to watch. Since the iPhone 14 the notch has been replaced by a camera hole. By 2026, it's likely that it will change to a full screen without any holes.

According to a report by The Elec, the Face ID system under the screen will begin to be used on the iPhone starting in 2026. This under-screen camera system (UDC) is being developed by LG Innotek according to a report by The Elec. Rumors of the use of screen-mounted cameras have been heard over the past few years, but Apple is said to still not be satisfied with the quality of the existing technology.

UDC technology has been used by Samsung and ZTE in their devices. Based on our previous experience, it is recognized that pictures taken using UDC are not comparable to normal cameras. Images lack life with significant glare issues. This is the main reason why the use of UDC is still very limited.
