NVIDIA Reportedly Will Open AI Data Center In Johor – Making Malaysia Southeast Asia's AI Hub

NVIDIA is currently the hottest artificial intelligence (AI) chip company with high demand from customers around the world. Investment from NVIDIA will certainly help raise the prestige of a country. According to a Reuters report, NVIDIA is currently in discussions with YTL to open an AI data center in Johor.

This AI data center will be able to provide access to NVIDIA's AI chips through cloud computing. This at the same time makes Malaysia the hub of AI cloud computing in the Southeast Asian region. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang visited Malaysia today after visiting Singapore a few days ago. He however refused to confirm the Reuters report but simply said that Malaysia has "great companies" such as YTL and PETRONAS that can be good business partners to build the infrastructure of the data center.

Last March, Yes 5G (a subsidiary of YTL) offered access to the GeForce Now cloud gaming service to their customers. This may be an early sign that these rumors have little basis.
