The Ministry of Health will issue instructions for the third booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine

The number of new cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia increased to almost 13,000 last week which shows an increasing trend compared to the previous week. Looking at the current situation, the Malaysian Ministry of Health will issue instructions regarding the injection of a new booster dose for the Covid-19 vaccine in the near future.

This third booster dose will give priority to the elderly and those with comorbidities because they are more at risk than other groups. The last time a booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine was given in Malaysia was in the middle of last year. The number of new cases of Covid-19 is increasing again around the world because the effectiveness of the vaccine is decreasing and people are no longer practicing wearing face masks as in the early stages of the pandemic.

Previously there were reports that the Ministry of Health is considering offering a booster dose of the bivalent vaccine that is more effective against the current variant. After the change of administration no latest news about it was announced.
