TSMC Will Activate Their 2nm Process In 2025 To Develop iPhone 17 Pro Chips

If you follow the development of semiconductor chip manufacturing technology, you must know that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is the most important company in the world when it comes to the production of chips that power the most popular smart devices today.

Today, several reports have come out that confirm that TSMC will start semiconductor chip manufacturing operations using their 2nm process technology called N2 in 2025, and it is no surprise that their first customer who will be able to enjoy the chips is Apple.

TSMC is confirmed to produce the SoC (System on a Chip) for the Apple iPhone 17 Pro device which will normally be launched at the end of the year. Currently, the Apple A17 Pro processing chip that powers the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max is built using the N3 (3nm) process, which TSMC already has improvements ready to use with the N3E and N3P processes, which will be activated later in the year 2024 later.

It is expected that Apple will also take advantage of the N3P process to build the SoC for their Apple iPhone 16 Pro device next year, but it is seen that this N2 node will bring a more significant performance increase for the device brand from Cupertino.
