Vivo is already present with the X100 series flagship device starting in China since last November. Now it is the turn of the global market, including Malaysia, to welcome its presence. While waiting for its official launch on January 3, 2024 here I am sharing the first look for the device. This is to give an initial overview of the features provided in addition to facilitating the understanding of users when they can find out the differences that exist.

Design And Screen
Continue the article with the main focus of Vivo X series flagship device which we are sure you also know about. Examples include sleek design, powerful performance and advanced cameras with ZEISS technology. Two different models are available later covering Vivo X100 and X100 Pro which generally have similar appearance with minor differences. Indeed, it is quite difficult to differentiate these two smartphones casually, so the only way is to pay close attention to the construction of the camera hump on the back.
The camera bump on the X100 Pro is thicker than the standard version. If observed with the glass that protects the sensor of the X100 Pro device, it protrudes slightly from the main camera hump. This is in contrast to the glass used on the X100 device which is flush with the main bump. The jagged finish that adorns the camera bump also reminds me of the camera bump of the Oppo Find X6 Pro. A total of three sensors are provided, one of which supports periscope telephoto, then the LED Flash is placed separately outside the camera hump.
Quite neat when placed in the middle which makes the design of the device look symmetrical compared to the previous X90 series. However, like its large size, it is possible that the body of the device feels heavy when held. Only the fully rounded side edge makes both devices no problem to use with one hand. However, this is my personal view and it may be different for my colleagues Effi and Fahim who have commented on the X90 series.

Next, the back panel also uses glass material with different finishes according to color. For example, a blue colored device using a glass panel with a finish inspired by the motifs and patterns found in the stars in the sky. It is also sleeker than the black colored device with a shiny finish like the one found on the previous Vivo X generation. Personally I think that the black finish looks better and neater, besides being able to reduce the dirt issue. Even so, this does not mean that the blue finish is not old, rather it stands out more in creating a variety of styles.
Moving forward, a 6.78″ FHD+ AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz is used. The experience is improved with bezels on all four sides being equally thin making it look balanced. This is also combined with a small hole in the center that supports a single 32MP selfie camera. The security system used is a fingerprint scanner built into the screen and it works very well. In addition, face scan support is still provided.
The standard button layout is the same for both devices. The power button and audio controls can be found on the right side. Also followed are stereo speakers, a USB-C port, a microphone hole and a SIM slot at the bottom. Completing it further is the red emitter that is on the top side. The absence of a 3.5mm audio jack is not at all surprising, especially in today's devices. However, the existence of the IP68 standard is certainly seen as an attractive added value.
Hardware And Software
The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chip is used in both these devices. This is Mediatek's latest flagship chip with a 4nm build. According to estimates, this device is also the first in Malaysia to generate the processing chip. The device also supports 16GB RAM memory and 512GB storage for the unit in this article. No slot for microSD is included but the device can add up to 16GB of RAM virtually using the storage section.
The software used is FunTouch OS 14 (based on Android 14) which also provides a simple interface to facilitate the use process. As previously reported FunTouch OS 14 focuses more on important aspects that include multitasking capabilities.
For example, like the small window function that now supports up to 12 applications with an easier switching process. Through the Mini Windows function, side swipe control is enhanced which is very useful for using more than one application at a time. For example, looking forward while replying to a message.
Camera Settings
Significant differences can be seen in the camera settings of each device. Three 50MP resolution sensors with OIS are used on the X100 Pro device. The main camera uses a 1″ Sony IMX998 sensor, then a periscope telephoto sensor with the new ZEISS APO technology and 100X digital zoom are also combined. Lastly is the ultra-wide sensor and all lenses are equipped with Zeiss T* Coating which is said to reduce reflection issues better than the previous generation. Other advantages can also be seen in the pro variant when the ISP V3 chip is used together.
Meanwhile, the X100 device uses a 50MP main sensor with a matching 64MP telephoto and 50MP ultra-wide. All lenses are also equipped with Zeiss T* Coating but only the ISP V2 chip is used on the X100.
Battery Capacity
The battery capacity and charging system are different between the two devices. Through it the X100 Pro uses a 5,400mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging. Meanwhile, a 5000mAh battery with 120W faster charging is used on the X100 device.
This can be considered large enough for a casual flagship device. Push aside devices like the ROG Phone for example because of the different groups that are more towards the first device. Having said that, this battery capacity can be quite large for a casual flagship device. With fast charging reaching 120W, users can expect the recharging period to be shorter than usual.
Conclusion
In conclusion X100 Pro and X100 are basically not much different. If there is a difference it lies in the battery capacity, charging system, main camera configuration and the type of ISP chip used. Even so, all of this still depends on each individual's needs and wait for the full review from us to know more comprehensively about the performance of the device.
