Two years ago, Meta introduced the View Once feature on WhatsApp where a photo or video will disappear after opening it once. This feature then received security enhancements that is, every content that is sent to be viewed once cannot be screen captured. But this feature is limited to mobile devices only.
View Once was previously offered to Windows 10, Windows 11 and Mac app users but was withdrawn due to privacy vulnerabilities. Now after months of updates, View Once is back for WhatsApp desktop and Mac users. Users can press the paper clip icon, select Photos & Videos, select any photo and video files to send, press the "1 in a circle" icon until it turns green and press send.
Messages sent once to view from the phone are also now accessible on WhatsApp desktop. This feature appears to be available to all users.
