The comment section is the best place to gather feedback from readers, viewers, followers and fans. But sometimes it is misused to insult or on YouTube a place to throw out scam links waiting to find victims. As the world's leading video streaming site, YouTube is well aware of the issue of misused comment sections. This week YouTube introduced several new features to facilitate the management of comment sections by channel owners.
Comments can now be temporarily paused. When activated no new comments can be left but existing comments can still be read. Previously, channel owners who wanted to prevent new comments had to turn off the comment section, causing existing comments to no longer be displayed for reading.
The comment filtering feature with the moderation system can still be used. This pausing feature is an addition to existing features for those who don't have time to actively moderate the comment section. It can be used by all channel owners today.
