DJI Mic 2 was launched a few days ago with several improvements compared to the original DJI Mic model launched in 2022. The first thing to notice is the design of the transmitter unit which is now transparent allowing the internal components to be seen.
The transmitter maintains a compact design and weighs only 28 grams but can record audio for up to 6 hours on a single charge. With the help of the charging pod, up to 18 hours of audio recording can be enjoyed on the DJI Mic 2.
There is 8GB of storage which allows up to 14 hours of 48kHz 24-bit audio to be recorded directly before transferring to a computer/device. Connection to the shirt can still be done using clips or magnets. Each microphone can transmit audio up to a distance of 250 meters from the receiving unit.
The receiver unit still has a touch LCD screen but is enhanced with a physical control wheel on the side. Audio recording is supported from two microphone units up to 32-bit audio settings. There is a mode of dual-recording audio tracks simultaneously with one at a -6dB lower level as a backup if the main audio track goes beyond the peak level.
Another interesting feature is that it comes with a surround noise cancellation system for outdoor audio recording as well as bluetooth connection support directly to smartphones. Previously, the connection of the receiver unit to the phone had to be done through the USB-C port.
DJI Mic 2 is sold at a price of $219 (~RM1033) and it consists of two transmitter units (microphones) and one receiver unit as well as a charging pod with storage space. It is offered in black and pearl white.
