Ford Doesn't Continue to Patent Self-Driving "Car Towing" System If Not Paid

In Malaysia, one of the main reasons a person can go bankrupt is failure to pay the monthly car installment. The bank then uses a car towing service to recover the vehicle from the delinquent debtor. Because you want to be stylish with a car, all your property is mortgaged.

Ford previously patented a car technology that would drive itself to Ford if the owner did not pay the monthly loan installments. The self-driving system that was supposed to help the owner when needed is now an automatic tow truck without human intervention.

This patent however was not continued by Ford after its ownership expired at the end of last year. Most likely because after the news of its existence was reported, it received a negative reaction from the public who felt it was a feature that made them not buy a Ford vehicle.

In order to avoid problems, at the initial stage the system will only lock the vehicle on the weekend as a warning to the owner to make a payment. The vehicle can still be used on working days so as not to disturb the owner at work. It also has an emergency system that allows it to be used in emergency situations. The car will only be driven back to a nearby Ford center as a last resort if the owner still refuses to make payment.
