The most interesting and useful feature of this year's Galaxy S24 series is Galaxy AI which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help writing, edit photos, translate voice calls and summarize long notes. In China Galaxy AI has been modified with the use of local company technology.
Part of the Galaxy AI technology for the global market uses Google's Gemini AI model. Since Google does not operate in China, Gemini has been replaced by Ernie developed by Baidu. A feature similar to Circle to Search but using Baidu technology is also given specifically to the Chinese market Galaxy S24.
It is not yet known whether there is a difference in the performance of Galaxy AI features that use Google and Baidu technology. On the Ernie 4.0 model launched last October, Baidu says it is comparable to the capabilities of GPT-4 developed by OpenAI.
