Honor finally launched the MagicOS 8 operating system based on Android 14 with it also featuring an artificial intelligence (AI) model built by MagicLM. MagicLM is a small LLM model with seven billion parameters that provides several new features not previously offered.
One such feature is the Magic Portal which understands what MagicOS 8 device owners want to do. For example if you receive a meeting location message for example, you just need to pull the screen to the right to open the Magic Portal. It can guess you might want to open a navigation app. Just drag the message screen and place it on the navigation application icon and automatically the directions to the destination received earlier will open without you having to enter them manually.
It also has a feature to personalize the lock screen in front as if it were iOS 17. Not only that, but the StandBy iPhone mode that displays the time and various important information when placed in the charging dock also exists in MagicOS 8.
MagicLM also has the ability to be a smarter virtual assistant with the ability to search for a video scene in the gallery when instructed. We have already seen this ability done by Honor CEO George Zhao during the launch of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in Hawaii in October last year.
It is not known when global devices will receive MagicOS8 but it is certain that the first device that will use it is the Honor Magic8 which will be launched today.
