Instagram is the app of choice for younger people as Facebook has a reputation as a platform for older people. But addiction to social media occurs at all ages. Instagram has therefore activated a new feature that reminds teenagers to go to bed if the app detects they are spending time after bedtime.
A bedtime advisory notification will be displayed on the screen if the user is detected accessing Reels and DMs more than 10 minutes after bedtime. The advice given is to close the application. Teenagers can still continue their activities even after this notification is given.
For parents or guardians, control of application activity on smartphones can still be done through applications such as Google Family Link. There is a feature to lock apps after they are used beyond the limits set by parents and guardians. Don't expect the app owner to be your child's full guardian. The responsibility is still in your hands so use the available technology as best as possible.
